The pandemic has left a devastating effect on the Tourism sector with major disruptions in businesses worldwide, loss of jobs and negative growth rate. On the occasion of World Tourism Day with this years' apt theme of "Tourism for Inclusive Growth". Periyar Adventures and Santos King, one of the veteran Adventure Tour Operators in Kerala is hosting a Paddlers Meetup - River Periyar Cleanup in DTPC Arboretum, River Periyar, Aluva on 26th September 2021, 7 am to 11 am.

The one-of-a-kind event held in association with Kerala Tourism & DTPC Ernakulam was a huge success inaugurated by Shri Anwar Sadath MLA and Flag off by Shri Jafar Malik IAS, District Collector with the presence of Shri. K Radha Krishnanan, Joint Director, Kerala Tourism, Shri. Sachin Kumar Yadav IAS, Asst. Collector and Shri. Vijaya Kumar, Secretary DTPC Ernakulam.

Kayaking and stand-up paddling through the Periyar and initiatives to clean up waterbodies are among the activities lined up in Ernakulam district on Sunday, in the run up to celebrating World Tourism Day (September 27).
Heritage walks, online talks mark World Tourism Day celebrations in Ernakulam
Heritage walks, online discussions, and other events were organised in the district on Monday to celebrate World Tourism Day and to revive the sector from the almost two-year lull brought about by the pandemic, even as the hartal played spoilsport with travel plans of tourists who arrived here from other districts and States.
